NEST BOX TRAINING: Provide a visual cue where you want your hens to lay their eggs by placing one or more ceramic eggs inside their nest box. EGG PECKING DETERRENT: Distribute at least two to three ceramic eggs in the nest boxes where hens are breaking and eating real eggs. Once they peck repeatedly at the ceramic egg and can’t break it, they should eventually lose interest and stop breaking eggs. Be sure to remove real eggs as quickly as possible to avoid restarting the behavior. BROODY HEN TEST: Put three to six ceramic eggs in a nest box to test which hen will sit on them for most of the day. This will help you figure out which hens are broody so you can hatch fertile eggs.
